Dear WoW Buddies-

I couldn't ask for more awesome people. )

You're the greatest.

If you've travelled back in time with me to the Well of Eternity...

bring your goddamn brains with you.

The game even tells you in big letters that Tyrande is overwhelmed and you need to help her. Two dreadlords zapping her... that might be an issue. As the tank, it should not be my responsibility to drag Varo'then over there and AOE DPS with my bear-claws to get them down. And yet... it was. You guys saw me moving Varo and kept DPSing him, even after:

1) I said 'kill dreadlords'
b) the healer MARKED THEM and said 'kill skull then x'

So after taking Bobo down, I then beat up the dreadlord, then the OTHER dreadlord, and only then did I get to go over to Manny and slip him some claw.

Again: do not leave your brains in the Cataclysm era; bring them with you when you go back in time.

(Oh, and to that mage... when you start off shooting things before I get to the mobs, even the trash? I am going to have some trouble getting him to pay more attention to me unless I pull out the Oh Shit Button, aka Challenging Roar. I'm still gearing up, and, well, while I'm having a good time, zapping before I have firm threat means you will be living up to the famous quote for your character's name, 'Prepare to die'.)

Dearest Anzu,

You and I have had a very rocky relationship over the past year. I've spent every day running past your guards to kill you. We exchange a glance, and then I destroy you and your Brood. Every day I go away empty handed. Until today.

I sat down in front of you, just like I always do, to munch on some mana cakes while I waited for my mirror images to be ready. I decided to try talking to you this time instead of just glaring you down and then killing you.

Selliie: Anzu, we have to talk. I understand you drop a mount. I'd like the mount. Could you please give it to me?

Then I hugged you, blew you a kiss, and professed my love for you.

What happened next will keep me grinning for days...
Behold, the Reins of the Raven Lord )

Still grinning, and with much much love,
Selliie the VERY happy Blood Elf mage.

Dear Druid healer in End Time,

Arguing about not wanting to ress someone is just slowing everyone down. You claimed you couldn't ress the rogue or you'd pull a group, but if you had a damn brain cell, you'd see that the group was actually a patrolling group, and that they were going to move out of the way. Yet, when we called you on it, your brain must have shot right out of your ass. Yeah this is a 3/5ths guild run, no we're not assholes, we're not needing everything, and we're not mocking everyone. We want to have fun, host a positive "heroicing" environment, get some gear, & VP/JP. Not spend 5 minutes debating about "twisted morality" because we're the majority. Someone died, they clipped a patrol, could you please ress them? It's not asking a lot. I'm not going to immediately pull when the ress pops.

/sigh )

GDKP fun [May. 27th, 2012|02:18 am]

Dear GDKP group,

So I was sitting in trade tonight being bored when I saw the ad for your weekly GDKP run, I ummed and ahhed for ages, eventually whispering you when you were down to needing just one more healer and I ended up securing a spot for my priest alt, so I logged grabbed some gold from my main and joined in the fun.

And boy was it fun!

It was 25 man DS, no minimum bid and no restriction on what you were bidding for, MS/OS/Transmog/whatever other reason.  Then at the end of the raid the whole collection was divvied up between everyone.  The guys running it were pretty decent, there were a couple of dickbags in the group but they were easily ignored (and what pug doesn't get a few) and it was just really fun, I was even comfortable enough talking on vent and even though my server is pretty good when it comes to the 'omg girls don't play wow' shit I can still feel a bit meh about outing myself as female to random guys.

With my priest being an alt I wasn't prepared to spend heaps on her, except maybe for a weapon but all the weapons went for stupid high prices and a maw didn't even drop so I didn't actually win anything but I did walk away 25K richer so I can't complain about that!

Ultra even dropped his mount (yay for Pandas bringing in account wide mounts!) and it came down to a bidding war between me and one other person, I'd put a self imposed limit of 150K on it and sadly got out bid and the other guy got it for 155K.  I was sads but it was still super fun, the whole 'will they or wont they' while bidding made it really exciting.  I'll def. being going back hoping to see it again, I think I'll up my limit for it considering how rare it is, kinda kicking myself for not going higher.

But yeah I'll def. be going back next week on either my priest or my DK, they're the only two of my alts I'm willing to actually spend gold on and if it gets to the point where those two have what they want I'll just take my main for chances at the Ultra mount and maybe some off-spec or off-off-spec gear, though I do despair of seeing the Ultra mount again (I so should have just kept bidding /sigh).

Signed,

The girl who was glad she didn't spend all night bored!

So, here's a thought... [May. 26th, 2012|02:08 am]

sockketeer

Dear (Mostly Warrior) Tanks of Wrath dungeons,

I understand learning. I understand human mistakes. I understand distraction, and lag, and alllllll those other icky things that can cause trouble during dungeons. I know. I've raised more than one tank myself. Some of you, though? You need to stop and reconsider your methods, because something you're doing just isn't working. And SOME of you need to stop and consider what you're doing tanking at all. I'm looking at you:

Warrior #1, who couldn't hold more than two mobs at a time and who ninja'd my kitty's agility ring. The ring that was a 25% upgrade for me. The same ring I lost to a different DPS warrior earlier in the day. (What is up with warriors taking all of my agility stuff?)

The paladin, who even with Righteous Fury could not hold a single mob and decided that every last group in the instance had to die. A single swipe should not rip aggro from a paladin like an old bandaid.

Warrior #2, who was fine on trash pulls but apparently got so bored with bosses that the fights turned into a game of sprinting in circles after the Amazing Bouncing Tank and his sidekick, Whirly-Cleave.

Warrior #3, who was allergic to thunderclap even after it was pointed out that it should be on any tanking warrior's bars, and who could not hold still and kept edging groups backward just out of reach of the melee dps.

And Warrior #4, who had the healer scrambling to compensate for tanking cooldowns that were not being popped, who took minutes, plural, between pulls, who held aggro like a wet paper bag, and who stood there with a thumb in places unmentionable when aggro (and mobs) inevitably scattered everywhere.

Tanking. It takes more than two braincells and the spasmodic twitching of one's caffeine-jittery fingers. Warrior tanks especially need to be paying some freaking attention. Thunderclap is the closest thing you get to a magic 'everything stays on you 5ever' button. It is not like tanking with a paladin or a death knight. I'm a good little kitty. I scratch things til they're nice and bleedy and make sure to stand behind things (provided you're not dragging them along for Super Spinny Funtimes). I pull my own weight DPSing when I'm not smeared on the floor from pulling off you or being a rescue bear because YOU'RE smeared on the floor.

tl;dr:  Bad tanking should not be so far skewed toward one class that I cringe to see a ragebar when I zone into a dungeon. Please to be using your brains. I know you have them.

-That little white kitty glaring daggers at you all.

Dear Fellow Hunter,

Just one, simple, statement.

*Picks up a megaphone*

TURN ASPECT OF THE PACK OFF

Seriously, your excuse of, "Oh, didn't realize it was on," is beyond inexcusable after the rest of us spent a good five minutes going, "Pack. ... Pack. ... PACK!!!" in party chat. I even called you by name twice because a quick check told me the other hunter and I both had hawk up. Even if you didn't think it was you, it never hurts to just take a quick glance at your screen. Seriously.

Rubbing my temples over here,

Me.

Dear former guild,

Or, specifically, several people in my former guild who were so impossible to be around that I cracked and left after long amounts of inner turmoil:

Sincerely,

I'm so glad that's over.

Dear new guild,

The leader politely whispered me asking if I was searching for a guild to which I replied yes. She told me she'd made this guild to be a Safe Space for people of all types.

How about yes?

Good feelings,

Hunter

I noticed a healer CTA for Heroics so I queued up my holy Pally. Found myself in an in-progress ZG making its way to Kilnara. Getting down to her was hairy (why no sap, Rogue? why no poly, Mage? why no hex, Shaman?) but we made it.

They all piled onto Kilnara and I noted with horror that no one was taking out the Pride of Bethekk. I hastily typed "kill the Prides" but no one diverted to the sleeping kitties. So I typed "we are all going to die" and then frantically tried to last as long as possible against the onslaught of furious panthers.

On the run back I explained the fight and it went beautifully the second attempt.

For Zanzil I explained ahead of time. The tank failed to grab the green cauldron and died in short order. Luckily the DPS were putting out high enough numbers that we downed him anyway.

On to Jin'do. Again I explained the fight ahead of time. The tank couldn't find the berzerker? or something? I'm unclear on what went wrong exactly. Tank died, and the rest of us did manage to get one chain down before falling too. I pointed out that now everyone had seen all phases of the fight so hopefully it made more sense. The tank dropped, saying "you need a better tank." The rogue disconnected and then dropped. We got a DK tank and a boomkin for replacements.

I asked if everyone knew the fight and no one replied. DK zipped in and off we went. The boomkin was waaaay off on the side, nowhere near the Deadzone. I said "get in the green." Then "GET IN THE GREEN." Then "GET IN THE GREEN RUT." Even a name-check didn't get his attention. I have no idea how I kept him alive through Shadows of Hakkar.

The Shaman and Mage kicked butt. The DK tank was awesome. I healed and healed. And Ruterid did under 6k DPS. I'm thinking it was due to his 330 equipped ilevel and his reforge-crit-to-dodge relic and his three pieces of cloth and all.

Overall a very chill and pleasant group, no grumpiness over wipes or butt-pulls. Ruterid is just lucky that he joined us on the very last fight, giving us no chance to discover his utter fail and kick him.
